Joe Gavin remix edit from Swift Blazer

Updated: Jan 22, 2021

A sterling retrospective mash-up of Manchester’s finest.

Instagram’s ever prolific UK skateboarding archivist Matt Swift, aka Swift Blazer, is up to his old tricks again, coming through with a four minute remix section featuring none other than Manchester stalwart, Joe Gavin.

Making use of classic footage from videos such as Baghead Flats, Shads, Pusherman and Cottonopolis, the remix covers 11 years from 2008 to 2019, and – as you’d expect - is filmed predominantly on the streets of Joe’s beloved hometown. Don’t be fooled though, there are glimpses of such far-flung, non-Mancunion places such as Spain, London and New York in there.

The repurposed footage comes courtesy of camera-wielding individuals including Sean Lomax, Mark Kendrick, Ryan Gray, Kevin Parrott, and Ben Powell.

Give the section a watch below now, then be sure to head over to the Slam City blog to read Swift Blazer’s recent interview with Ben Powell, giving you an insight into his process.
